![]() Inspired by another concept car, the 1970s Mercedes C111, the Vision One-Eleven is an outlandish showcase of what Mercedes designers can do when let loose. Related: Why The Porsche Mission X Electric Hypercar Has Us Weak At The Knees Porsche also hasn't commented on whether the Mission X will even be a reality, but if it will, don't expect it before 2027. Specific power figures haven't been revealed, but it's the Mission X will likely weigh around the same as a 911, so 1400-1500 hp is a safe estimate. The Mission X is all-electric no screaming naturally-aspirated V8 this time around, but Porsche aims to make up for it by giving it a perfectly balanced 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. Porsche says the Mission X generates more downforce than the 992 GT3 RS, which is insane considering how much gear was bolted onto the RS' body. Every crease, line, and vent has a purpose, and that purpose is maximum downforce. With clear styling inspirations from Le Mans prototypes, the Mission X's body follows function over form. The Mission X is a purpose-built hypercar concept that was made to accomplish one goal – snatch the Nürburgring production car lap record from the AMG One. Today, the Mercedes-AMG One is the king of the 'Ring, but Porsche has a new trick up its sleeve. Securing a 6:57 lap on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the 918 held the top spot on the Green Hell leaderboard for about four years, until the Lamborghini Huracán Performante lapped it 5 seconds quicker, thus beginning a vicious back and forth between Lamborghini and Porsche for the number one position. The Porsche 918 was one of the best-engineered hypercars of the last decade, propelling Porsche's name right up alongside behemoths like Koenigsegg and Bugatti as the maker of one of the quickest cars in the world. However, after the discontinuation of the Audi TT and R8, fans would be ecstatic to see a new performance model take their place, and the Skysphere with its ludicrous variable-wheelbase tech is the perfect candidate for the job. The Skysphere is meant to preview Audi's future "progressive luxury" design language, so it may not translate to a model of its own. The infotainment screen also splits in half to increase driver focus, which is incredibly cool. If you find yourself on the more enthusiastic side, flick the knob to 'Sport' and watch the wheelbase shrink by 9.8 inches and the ride height drop by 0.4 inches to provide a tighter, more involved experience. ![]() The lengthened position, or 'Grand Touring' mode, retracts the steering wheel and pedals and activates its level 4 autonomous driving technology for those who'd prefer a relaxed (or for lack of a better word, non-existent) driving experience. At first glance, the Skysphere has all the elements of a standard concept car – futuristic styling, impossibly large wheels, fancy lights, and bonkers proportions – but at the press of a button, this sleek roadster can extend or shorten its wheelbase as per the selected drive mode. ![]() The Audi Skysphere is one of those concept cars that make you question not only what cars can do, but the limits of physics as well. And with the Gallardo's 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 churning out 600 hp behind the driver's head and active aero bodywork, the charging will be very rapid indeed. The overall design is clearly inspired by the aviation industry, but when viewed from the side, it's meant to look like a bull ready to charge. Sporting a single-seat canopy cockpit that requires the removal of the steering wheel to enter and exit (just like an F1 racer), the Egoista is the representation of everything that makes Lamborghini wild and unique. Undoubtedly the closest thing to a fighter jet in the automotive landscape, the Lamborghini Egoista is a 2013 concept that commemorated the 50th anniversary of the supercar marquee.
